Name three European football stars ... easy. And you know at least ten others off the cuff.

Name three European table tennis stars … it’s not that easy and you’ll need some help from Google. With or without Google, you’ll probably come up with Timo Boll or Dimitrij Ovtcharov. The Swedish table tennis legend Jan-Ove Waldner is perhaps also among the first ten hits, he celebrated his great successes in the 80s and 90s, when many of you were not even born.

The LMC has taken this task in hand and wants to promote European table tennis stars – long term … The talent scouts and coaches are looking for the top talents in Europe. They are excellently trained to achieve titles and celebrate success. Gauzy or Calderano are already well on their way. Excursus: Jan-Ove Waldner – if it was ever appropriate to speak of a legend, then here. In short: six times World Champion, ten-time European Champion, Olympic Champion 1992 in Barcelona. When he won the world title in 1997, he didn’t lose a single set on the way to gold.
The used to call him Mozart on the table. In 2013, the Chinese Post Office dedicated his own stamp to him. This was a first: nothing like this had ever been granted to any non-Chinese citizen.
